Birdhide Lagoon upstream
The location of Camera 2 is on the banks of Boolgaroo Lagoon and focuses upstream towards the deeper end of the lagoon. This site was previously infested by two WoNS and expanding areas of Aleman grass as a consequence of the earth wall construction and the impeded water flow of saline water. When the earth wall was removed high tides were allowed to flow into the wetland to reduce freshwater weed dominance. The project has been very successful. If you scroll down the photos you will see a dramatic change in the appearance of the lagoon. The weeds have gone and waterbirds have returned.
Images are downloaded hourly to the CSIRO and updated monthly to this site to show the dramatic changes occuring within the wetland.
