Camera 1 Birdhide Lagoon
The location of Camera 1 is on the banks of Boolgaroo Lagoon and focuses on an area approximately 70 metres above the old earth wall. This site was previously infested by two Weeds of National Significance (WoNS) and expanding areas of Aleman grass as a consequence of the earth wall construction and the impeded water flow of saline water. When the earth wall was removed high tides were allowed to flow into the wetland to reduce freshwater weed dominance. The project has been very successful. If you scroll down the photos you will see a dramatic change in the appearance of the lagoon. The weeds have gone and waterbirds have returned. We now have a tree planting project on the banks of the lagoon.
Images are downloaded hourly to the CSIRO and updated monthly to this site to show the dramatic changes occuring within the wetland.
